We can Fix Your Garage Door Gap

Curb appeal or not, a gap in your garage door could be the start of a laundry list of problems that could plague your home for a very long time. Rodents and creepy-crawlers won’t hesitate to make their way through the small opening in your garage door and eventually into your home.

The gaps in your garage door don’t always appear near the floor, they could also be along the sides or at the top of the door. It’s always safe to reach out to our garage door specialists at Florida garage door company for repairs.

Here are some of the basic reasons a gap could be appearing in your garage door:

Seal and stoppers of the garage doors might be worn out.

Shifting or cracking of the garage floor.

Malfunctioning of garage door sensors.

Here’s what you should start with:

Trimmings and stops: Check the trimmings running along the side and top of the door opening. The job of a door stop is to hold the door properly in closed position. It could be time to adjust the stops and move them closer to the door. Also replace the trims if they aren’t doing their job anymore.

Roller tracks: If the door is out of plumb, the culprit could be the vertical section of the roller tracks on either side of the door. Loosen the bolts of the brackets on which the rollers are mounted, and move them a little to see if the door moves closer to the stops. Don’t forget to tighten the bolts.

Garage floor: Check for cracks in the garage floor. The presence of cracks would mean the floors have shifted. If you don’t want to shell out a lot of money to re-level the flooring, you would need to readjust the door to make it shut.

Door sensors: If your garage door opener has a flashing light, it might be an indication of the garage door sensors being out of whack. These sensors are located on the door tracks, very close to the floor. They would need to be recalibrated for your garage door to close completely.

Gap along the floor: A quick fix for a gap between the garage door and the floor; use a threshold kit. The kit contains a threshold strip that can be permanently glued to the floor. Your garage door will rest on the threshold when closed.

If these quick tips haven’t taken care of the gap, it’s time to call a qualified technician. Give us a call to get an honest opinion.
